L300 Delica Starwagon -Wheel Width/Offset Specs Thread

  • Notes: Love these tires. Zero rubbing but stock size. They are much quieter on the road than I was expecting and handle well off-road. Had BFG A/T’s on my Syncro Westy 20 years ago and found the ride and noise quite harsh, so these have been a pleasant surprise. Tomorrow’s snow storm will provide an opportunity to test their snow capabilities.

They're unreal in the snow, a favorite video of mine:

Woo, that looks good. I have the same stock wheels, and am in the process of looking for new tyres; these look and sound great. The alternatives I was looking at was Yokohama Geolandars, which appear to be a bit more affordable- the BFG's are pricey here in the UK.

Out of interest, does any one know if the "stock" tyre size fitted to the "stock" wheels just varied between 235/75/15 and 215/80/15? I currently have the latter, and my van actually has a sticker on the inside of the door with that size specified, but I've had many folk claim the 235's were the ones fitted as stock?

  • Wheel: American Racing Baja Polished
  • Wheel Size: 16x7.5
  • Offset: Forgot
  • Tire: 2017 Edition Cooper Discover AT3 LT
  • Tire Size: 235.85.16
  • Running spacers (y/n):
  • Lifted (y/n): FTS upper ball joint spacers, rear drop shackles, Dobinson Torsion Bars
  • Notes: Lots of cutting to fit. Most of it was rusted anyway so it worked out perfectly :)
The L400 has stock steelies on it, blasted, primed, and painted hot rod black which is kinda like a semi gloss. The tires on it are nearly 31" BFG All Terrains. Phenomenal tire!

What size are the wheels on the L400? Thinking about putting a 31x10.5x15 on the 15x6 stock l300 wheel. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've heard a bunch of different opinions: plenty of "you can get away with it" and "that's a terrible idea". Worst comes to worst, I'll resort to a 30x9.5x15, but would love the 31" if I could.

Don't put 31x10.5"s on a 6" wheel, it's a waste of perfectly good tyres.
You *can* get away with it but you'll have odd handling with lots of tyre roll, bad fuel economy, and nasty feathering on the outside edges of the tyres which won't go away, no matter what pressure you run.

They do look good though. Big fat bouncy balloon tyres.

I just got my new wheels and KO2 30x9.5r15 tires. I love how they look but they are rubbing on the front step, the mudflaps and the lower panel at about 20 degrees.
What are my options to fix the rubbing issue?
Trying to figure out if I should modify the van or if it will be less expensive to cut my losses, order the smaller tires and try to resell these since Ive barely driven on them.

Looks like your front suspension is a bit low, it might have sagged over the years. Winding the front up will help with the rubbing.

If they're still rubbing, you can trim away the inner part of the sill moulding and bend the lower bolt in:

IMG_20120717_130545.jpg

and if they still touch the mudguard you can heat it with a heat gun, then reshape it when it's good and soft. Using a piece of wood, not your hand:

The front steps are a bit trickier, my van never had them and most people just remove them, but looking at the brackets I think it must be possible to move them forwards just enough to clear the wheels.

But try correcting your front ride height first. Dimensions and directions are in the workshop manual.

I agree, they do handle exceptionally well in the snow.

@L.G. just needs to be big enough (or bigger) to fit the front hub, if the wheels are lug-centric. If they're hub-centric, they need to be correctly sized or have the correct hub adapter.

Hey all

Looking for some advice to upgrade my wheels and tires. I currently have the OEM rims and 215/70r/15 Bridgestone Dueler A/T without a lift and I want to avoid having to do any modifications to fit. I'm trying to decide between 16 inch American Racing AR62 OUTLAW II rims with BFG All Terrain KO2 215/70R/16 from tirerack or 15 inch American Racing AR62 OUTLAW II rims with BFG All Terrain KO2 235/70R/15.

The local tire shop guy says I should be able to fit the BFG All Terrain KO2 215/70R on 16 inch American Racing AR62 OUTLAW II rims but I wanted to double check with the forum first before ordering. He also recommended checking out the General Grabber A/T as a lower cost alternative to the BFG KO2. Has anyone tried the General A/Ts?

Should I go with the 15 inch or the 16 inch package?
I am running General Grabber ATX tires 30x9.5x15.These tires are great in dirt, snow and rain. Also quieter than the K02's - I like them alot.I have a 2 inch lift - 20210209_170947.jpg

  • Wheel: Vintage Japanese (Berg) three-piece; powder coated black and re-bolted
  • Wheel Size: 16"
  • Offset:24+
  • Tire: Falken Wildpeak AT3W
  • Tire Size:235/70-16
  • Running spacers (y/n):N
  • Lifted (y/n):N
  • Notes: Stock height, torsion bars/ride height set right to spec. No rubbing or issues at all. Nice riding tire, little bit of extra diameter helps with revs on the highway.

  • Wheel: August Feroce Big Man
  • Wheel Size: 15x6.5"
  • Offset: 0 Front, -3 Rear
  • Tire: BFG KO2
  • Tire Size: 235/75/15, a bit over 29" or factory sizing
  • Running spacers (y/n): No
  • Lifted (y/n): No
  • Notes: Factory width I believe (factory wheels may be 6"), with a more aggressive offset. On stock sized tires I was sitting just about flush with both the front and rear doors. Tires still had some bulge to them on a 6.5" wheel.

HELPPPP... i just bought a new set of wheels along and ordered my new tires.. wheel specs are 15x7 with -10 offset and the tires are 235/75/15 cooper AT.. considering how my specs are nearly close to you set up.. do you think my tires will rub?

  • Wheel: American Racing AR23
  • Wheel Size: 15x7
  • Offset: -9
  • Tire: Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015
  • Tire Size: 30x9.50
  • Running spacers (y/n): no
  • Lifted (y/n): No
  • Notes: Mild rub on the pinch weld up front. I absolutely love these tires. They've been champs in sand, dirt, rock, and snow (they're 3 peak rated).

I have the same exact wheel spec. Do you mind showing me exactly where you are rubbing? I wanna get the same tire size but I dont wnat it to rub

Im running 235/75/15s on the stock rims with no lift and i get zero rubbing....if you do, take a look at your ride height..it might be your suspension sagging a bit from age

i think my wheel diameter is 28.9" with the tires above and i have plenty of room...i could possible go to a 30" without any rubbing, but i recently upgraded my front shocks to Bilsteins so the ride height is where it should be

That shouldn't rub. However, identical wheel/tire specs can still vary due to tread design on ATs.

  • Wheel: 92 Toyota 80 Series factory alum
  • Wheel Size: 15x7
  • Offset: +10
  • Tire: BFG KO2
  • Tire Size: 30x9.5x15
  • Running spacers (y/n): N
  • Lifted (y/n): yes. Spacer and shackles
  • Notes: These wheels are different than those available for the Toyota 4 runner. Those I believe are 15x7 with a -8 offset, and do not have steel inserts like the 80 Series wheels.. The 80 Series wheels and BFG tires are about flush in the rear, and stick out about 8-10 mm in the front.

I'm running these same BFG's on the same stock rim. Out of curiosity, anyone know the weight on the rim? I've been searching in all the wrong places apparently. Looking to toss on some Montero 3-Spoke alloys for a bit more kick off stoplights, and I've seen that those are about 22lbs. I'm sure there's lighter, I just think those look sick.
