Repacking the Hubs

Correct me if I’m wrong, but do I see two dust shields?

There is a dust shield on each side, one fits into the other.

Everything fits.
I took the CV, hub, and locker assembly, and put them together out of the vehicle on the bench, everything fits together perfectly, until I reinstall the components into the van, I get that gap. It feels like it’s hitting something when I expand the CV to fit everything together or the CV is fully expanded but nothing binds up or rubs.
I tried reinstalling the old CV thinking this and still get that same gap.

The only other area of interference could be in the hub. Being that all fits together on the bench I really don’t know

No rust, new components.

New bearings and races? Have you done the preload torque to set the hub?

I’ve reused the bearings and races, they looked like new. Even the grease was super clean. All preloading specs achieved per the manual.

This part needs to be done still when I try again. I have everything required to do this. Just need the time.

Did you figure this out? Are the new axles machined slightly different?

Ugh. I just realized this is the l400 thread. Regardless, I'm having this exact issue with my l300. Sorry for the added fluff!
