Delica JB500 Camper

Cool. My jb500 still has the 1995 tv aerial. Did you remove yours?
Yes I did to accommodate the solar panels. Thx for your post hope we can share info on the vantech camper also. Everything works on the camper except the 12volt of the fridge.

I might be able to help on the fridge.

There should be a relay on top of the fridge. The load feed is 12v straight from the habitation battery. The switch feed is from the vehicle ignition. When ignition is on then the relay is closed and 12v is connected to the heater probe. The heater then heats the ammonia hydrogen water mix in the tubes and the fridge gets cold.

Your fridge works on mains voltage so the mix has not leaked out. There is no pump - it works by convection. I have the wiring diagram and will post it.

Thank you this is very helpful I am on travel now I will look at that when I get home in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, our water heater just mysteriously stopped working. There is a switch inside to turn on which I think turns on the pilot light, then it turns off when the water reached 70 degrees, according to the manual. That switch no longer turns on. Thx. Everything else works the heater is great we spend some time in the snow Mammoth Lake. Stove and water system are also working great. Thx again.

1. Check you have gas.
2. The spade connections at the heater can get dirty and stop working. Open the heater cover and clean the connections. It worked for me.

If that doesnt help then check electrics. If you need to remove the heater let me know as I have done that before.

I will clean the connection and check behind the switch the red light is not coming on when the switch is turned on. Is there a relay? Taking the heater out will have to wait till I get home. Thx

Open the heater cover outside the van and clean those contacts. There is also a thermal fuse hidden in the plastic shield of the third contact from the left. It should melt if the heater gets too hot.20200223_130139.jpg

Are there other JB500 owners? I reckon there are 30 in the UK but I have never seen one.

I know my way around the interior but the engine is just a mystery I leave to the local garage. You seem to know that really well.

I think there are maybe 5 in the US I have communicated with one who helped me with replacing my oem water pump and faucet.
What I know about the engine is what I learned from this forum & delica.Ca (delica Canada) if I can be of help with the engine let me know. As you can see on my thread I also widen the track width.
Do you know where to source the window next to the camper door & black out curtains and screens? Thx again.

These guys just obtained a JB500 also.

here is an update on the lift, added 3 springs from atlas suspension, bilstein shocks, shuckels from rising sun, 235/75r15 29" tires I could have gone to 30". lifted 4". thank you all for your help. more update to come.
Do you have any links to the items you've installed? I have a JB470 that I would like to get to this height and am in desperate need of some component details. I am looking to haul my dirtbike on the back and your rear setup is fantastic!
