Wet floor fix...

Bummer! Yeah I couldn’t get the top screw off near the windshield either. I got all other screws out so I ended up just lifting the panel from the bottom, reaching up (not too much but it is metal so will bend a bit) and cleaning out/resealing and haven’t had leaks since.

So, for what it's worth, I paid a bunch of money and it got sealed up really nicely.
I woke up this morning after an overnight rain, and the middle of the footwell, on both front and back, are wet. it doesn't seem to have dripped from...anywhere (?). I didn't drive in the storm. The bottom of my rubber floormats are wet.

Sunroof? Crystal Lite?

Residual that had soaked across the carpet from before the fix? Getting to the back would take a lot of water...

I had water leaking in from my antenna mount, but it was dripping/collecting in the middle the drivers floor mat... most pillar leaks (roof seam cracks, etc) seem to do the same from what I've read.

I had pillar leaks which leaked down to the floor coming in from the front of the gutter. Cleaned, sealed and no leaks since.

I guess this is worth a shot, can you give any more details? just where the gutter starts, in the very front of the van? Just put some a little sealer in there or something?

Yeah you’ll see on the front of the gutters there’s a seam. They had sealer from the factory (actually the whole length of gutter has the sealer) so it gets old and crusty over time.

That front seam lets all the water in. Clean the area up and smear all around the seam. I sealed with silicone window and glass sealer.

Here's another thread that has a more details on the gutter seams and other things to try: http://delicaforum.com/index.php?threads/wet-front-carpets-footwell-leaks.713/

I just did the corner seams on mine today, hoping it solved the issue. Luckily only had one screw I needed to drill out on each side, but it still took a while overall. The Vessel 980 impact wrench did help I believe!

I've got water coming in the interior rear view mirror and around the driver's side grab handle. Windshield seal leak?

Yup, or rust under the windshield. Either way, you should remove the windshield, clean the aperture and rubber seal, and reinstall. If water's getting behind the rubber there will be dirt too, and if you just squirt sealant behind the rubber the dirt will slowly grind through the paint and rust will start.

Removing and reinstalling the windshield here.

Hi guys,

In terms of wet floor fixes, I've taken out my carpet and did the TP test today. See picture attached.
Water seems to be intruding on the sides and in the upper corners. The sides are due to water coming through at the bottom of the door, see footwell with hole picture. Is there any way of stopping this? I guess I need to get this hole welded.. In terms of the upper corners it might be the same problem behind the 'cheecks' of the van, will check this soon hopefully.

You can get new door seals... I put new ones on my van to help cut down on wind/road noise.
You can also adjust the door strikers/dovetails in the opening if your doors are not closing tightly. They came with a plastic coating that normally breaks off by now and that makes the doors looser/rattle, especially with tired seals. You can replace them with new ones for cheap.

Replace your vapor barriers behind the paneling. I had this happen with my mk2 jetta. A pinhole in the vapor barrier caused exactly this issue. I had the entire interior gutted trying to find it. I knew I had a problem when I looked in my backseat and had 2 inches of standing water that was totally frozen over. I had Replaced my door seals, sunroof seal, cleared the sunroof drains, no change. Turns out it was a pinhole in the vapor barrier.

I would suugest pulling off the door panel and spraying water at the window from the outside and have someone watch from the inside.

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for your tips! Next weekend I'll give it another go. I'll try to test whether my door seals close of well by putting some chalk on them and see whether it makes a stain all around after I closed the door. Based on that I'll go forward checking the seals of the windscreen.
@Nenw, do you have details on this by any chance, link to a thread of some sorts? This hadn't occured to me yet.
Any thoughts on preventing the water collecting at the doorsteps (the picture with the hole). I'm really surprised no-one has had this issue!

Timo
